It’s snowing. I’m speechless. This is my first time seeing snow. January 30th 2012 : first time interacting with SNOW.
My host parents kept saying “c’est rare!” because it’s rarely snowing in Angers. And it’s the end of January! Such a moment to snow! Last year, they said, it was snowing in December, but it wasn’t that much. But TODAY, it’s like snowing! YES, THE ICE. IT FELL FROM THE SKY. What a surprisingly bizarre phenomenon (for me).
So I woke up at 6.40 this morning, I opened the window and saw some white stuff on the roofs. But when it’s really cold, usually the roofs are white, but it’s not “the snow”. 7.15 I went downstairs and had breakfast. Catherine, my hostmom, went outside to warm up her car. When she went in again, she was like “il neige!” and I was like WHAT WAIT WHOA and then she opened the kitchen window and MY FUCKING GOD IT’S LIKE COTTONS FALLING FROM THE SKY. I may sound so dumb right now but I don’t care, J’ADORE LA NEIGE.
And so my host mom drove me to school, and I was like walking with snow falling and when I got inside the building I GOT SNOW ALL OVER MY BODY FROM HEAD TO TOE!! I was so amazed I can’t stop smiling, and then I met my friends and told them this is my first time seeing snow. They were all like “c’est pas vraiii?!?!” it’s not true?!?!
One hour english class, boring.
And then I went home but I had forgotten my umbrella but j’ai mon fiche so I walked home in the middle of a snowfall (I just realized how seldom I use the word ‘snowfall’)
The feeling. I can’t……. Those pile of snow on top of the cars, I smacked them all!!! No really, I didn’t smack them, I just like wiped it with my arms and let it fell from the car. It felt really good. Touching snow.

My first mini snow ball.
And then at 13.45 I have sport class. Yes, it’s snowing and we had sport class. But it all turned out to be super fun! Le gars, the boys play football and le filles, the girls can choose betweet golf and SNOW FIGHT!! well duh I chose snow fight. So there I was, freezing as fuck but had fun. Me and my friends, we made snowman, my FIRST snowman, and we were at a golf field covered with snow, so it was all white, like a land of sugar. I had so much fun until it’s over. We went back to school and on our way (it was still snowing) my uggs boots were just AWFUL it’s like a sponge absorbing water. Every step felt horrible oh my god. And then I have 2 hours of french class, we had a test, writing essay and all. But what I did was only looking out the window seeing if it’s still snowing and it was. It had stopped though, at 5.50 but then it started snowing again 5 minutes later, at 5.55 PM.
French test was done and all, and then I went home, still snowing. On the way home I had fun wiping 10cm snow on the top of the cars with my arms. And then randomly took a handful of snow and formed it into a mini snowball and threw it just anywhere.
It was really a day. Specially when it’s rarely snowing here. And it’s the end of January. I feel like it’s snowing for me, because of me. GOD MY LIFE IS=
On the wall of the house I’m staying in. The “art” done by actual arctic monkeys
Also, in that same house lies a framed setlist from 2005, from the first US tour I believe…
I wish the setlist will always be like that, PERFECT SETLIST, SETLIST PARFAIT!!!!

B,
I really really hope that these vinyls will arrive soon in Angers just before the concert so you can bring it along with you, and who knows, you can manage to get any of the Arctic Monkeys to give their signature, or whatever they would, on these records as long as not breaking it.
I don’t think these vinyls would make it on time, though. They usually take some time to process the delivery, so it would take about four or five days at least for these records to reach Angers in France from Rotterdam in Holland.
However things might turned out, accept these as your birthday present. These three vinyls are rather particular in a way that all three of them are printed and released in UK by the original label: Domino. They are not printed in France, or Italy, or Singapore, by some licensed record re-manufacturing plants. So, you should check it out by the time they arrive in Angers. 180 grams vinyl LP are thicker and stronger and heavier vinyl than the standard one. LP = long play is the common 12inch record size that you have already known. 10inch is smaller in size which in this case contains just 5 tracks. 7inch records size is what people called as single, you have seen it as well, but in this special case Matador is a single made of white vinyl instead of the usual black vinyl. Check by the time it arrive.
1. Whatever People Say I Am That’s What I’m Not (Domino WIGLP162), released in the UK by the label Domino in 2006. It’s a 180 grams vinyl of 12-track LP in custom stickered picture sleeve with inner sleeve;
2. Who The Fuck Are The Arctic Monkeys (Domino RUG226), released in the UK by the label Domino in 2006. It’s a 5-track 10inch EP in custom picture sleeve, which contains the tracks: The View From The Afternoon, Cigarette Smoker Fiona, Despair In The Departure Lounge, No Buses, and Who The Fuck Are The Arctic Monkeys;
3. Matador (Domino RUG258), released in the UK by the label Domino in 2007. It’s a white vinyl of 2-track 7inch Single in custom spot varnished die-cut sleeve wih sticker.
Enjoy the music,
Live for the best years of your life.Dad
